Yumclip privacy policy

This page is a translation. If it differs from the French version, the version more favourable to you applies.

Updated: 27 October 2026

This page explains what data Yumclip uses, why, with whom, for how long, and how you stay in control of it.

In short

1. Who is responsible

DEV PIXEL, SARL (a French limited liability company), 6 rue d’Armaille, 75017 Paris, France, RCS Paris 909 354 607 (Paris Trade and Companies Register). DEV PIXEL publishes Yumclip and decides how your data is used.

For your data and your rights: [email protected]. We have not appointed a data protection officer.

2. What we use, and why

Data Why Legal basis (GDPR)

The IP address and time of requests, the proof that the request really comes from the app, the server logs Protecting the service against abuse, fixing outages Legitimate interest
What you eat (section 4) Suggesting recipes that suit you Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): the service you ask for
Your nutrition guide (section 5) Giving you a guide for your meals Your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a))

Account data is necessary to use Yumclip. Everything that requires your consent is optional: refusing changes nothing in the rest of the app.

Your answers when you first set up the app and your habits (how many people you cook for, your appliances…) stay on your phone, except your diets, which go with some requests (section 4). Each week, our server also calculates totals (successful imports, subscriptions), with nothing that identifies anyone.

3. Importing a recipe

From a link. Our server reads what the public page shows: the title, the text, the spoken sound of the video (transcribed on our server) and a few images. It does not keep the video: the recipe card links to the creator’s video. The link is sent without its sharing parameters. YouTube links go through an internet connection that we manage in France.

From your photos (up to 4). Before your first photo import, the app asks for your permission. On your phone, each photo loses its metadata (location, date, device). On our server, the photos stay in memory for the duration of the import, then are forgotten. Only a small thumbnail of the first one is kept as the recipe’s image. Avoid photos that show people or private information.

Reading by the AI. Our server sends this content to an artificial intelligence service provider, in the United States (our contract is signed with its company established in the European Union), without your name, your e-mail or your identifier. The same provider estimates the nutrition of a recipe and writes “Another version”. It acts on our behalf and does not train its models on this content.

Shared recipes. The recipe drawn from a public video may be reused for the next person who imports the same video, without anything that concerns you. A recipe drawn from your photos is never shared.

4. What you eat

Your diets (“Vegetarian”, “Gluten-free”, “Pork-free”…) are used to suggest recipes that suit you.

5. Your nutrition guide (Yumclip Plus, optional)

6. Statistics and crash reports

Yumclip uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics (Google), only if you accept them. Nothing is sent before you choose. You can change your mind at any time in My account › Privacy, with one switch for each. Your choice is kept for 6 months on your phone, then the app asks you again.

The creator’s move. In cook mode, the YouTube or TikTok player only loads if you tap “Watch the move”. It then follows the rules of YouTube (Google) or of TikTok.

On this site

yumclip.com and yumclip.app measure their audience with Google Analytics (Google), only if you accept it, in the banner shown on your first visit. Before you choose, and if you decline, the page loads nothing from Google and sets no measurement cookie. Without JavaScript, nothing is measured.

7. The creators of the videos

If you publish recipes on video, your name or username, the link and the public content of your video may be read when someone imports it, sent to our AI provider, and kept in its recipe card with your credit. The recipe may be reused for other people who import the same video. Basis: our legitimate interest, and that of our users, in keeping a public recipe with its credit (Art. 6(1)(f)). For us to remove the shared recipe drawn from your video, write to [email protected] with the link.

8. The companies that receive data

We do not sell any data. These providers act on our behalf, on our instructions:

Company What it does for us Where Safeguard outside the European Union
OVH SAS (OVHcloud) Our server: the API, the database, the catalog search, the transcription of the sound, the backups London, United Kingdom European Commission adequacy decision for the United Kingdom (Decision 2021/1772 of 28 June 2021, extended until 27 December 2031)

The catalog’s photos and the ingredient icons are created with an artificial intelligence service provider, without any personal data.

Controllers of their own processing: Apple and Google for purchases in the App Store and Google Play, and for signing in with Apple or with Google; YouTube and TikTok for their players, once you tap “Watch the move”. The platforms that our server reads receive no data about you.

Deleting your account does not cancel your Plus subscription: the store keeps billing it. Cancel it first.

11. Your rights

At any time, you can:

Write to [email protected]. We reply within one month (three if the request is complex, and we will tell you so). We may ask you to prove that the account is yours.

If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, the French data protection authority) or with the data protection authority of your country.

Yumclip does not make any automated decision that would have legal effects for you.

12. Security

Encrypted exchanges between the app and our server, a database closed to the internet, the nutrition guide encrypted, every request checked as coming from the app, the service’s secrets kept out of the code. No one on our side will ask you for your password.

13. Minors

Yumclip is reserved for people aged 16 and over. From 16, you give your own consent to statistics and crash reports: a parent’s consent is not required. The nutrition guide remains reserved for people aged 18 and over (section 5). If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we delete it, along with its data.

14. Changes

If this policy changes on an important point, the app will tell you before the change applies. The date at the top of the page is that of the latest version.

15. Depending on the country where you live

DEV PIXEL is established in France: the GDPR applies to everything we do with your data, wherever you live, and the rights in section 11 apply to everyone. The laws of your country may give you others; here is what they require us to say.

Where your data goes. To the United Kingdom (our server), the United States (our AI provider, Google, Cloudflare) and the European Union (Google), with the safeguards in section 8. In these countries, the authorities may access the data under the conditions of their laws.

United Kingdom. You can refer a matter to the UK data protection authority (ico.org.uk).

Your data also goes to the United States: the companies and their safeguards are in section 8. You can refer a matter to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

United States. We do not sell your data and do not share it for targeted advertising. You can ask what data we have about you, access it, correct it, delete it, obtain a copy of it, and withdraw your consent for your nutrition guide, sensitive data that we only use with that consent; your diets are only used for the service you ask for (section 4). Write to [email protected]: we reply within 45 days. If we refuse, reply “Appeal”: we review your request again within 45 days; if the refusal stands, you can refer the matter to the Attorney General of your state. Washington State residents: our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy says what we do with your health data and how to exercise your rights.

You exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition (ARCO rights) at [email protected]. We will tell you in the app about any change to this notice.

Japan. Your data is sent to the United States, to our AI provider and to Google, which are bound by contract to measures equivalent to those required by Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information. On request, we give you the details of these measures, of how they are monitored and of the United States’ data protection regime. Our security measures: encrypted exchanges, a database closed to the internet, the nutrition guide encrypted, limited access; your data is in the United Kingdom, in the European Union and in the United States.
